Was die Stelle im Bild gefährlich macht ist hauptsächlich der grosse Siphon links in welchen ein grossteil der Strömung schiebt. Bei mehr als 14m3 schwer erkennbar aber trotzdem dort!

additional note regarding the picture of the hard rapid: the drop is about 2,5 maybe 3 meters high.

we ran this today, assuming a nice class 4-5.
luckily we are strong paddlers.
maybe the river changed?
we rate this whole section class V+/V-VI. the waterlevel was a low medium in our opinion.
we ran all rapids and took out one tree.
no portages required. but you shouldn't miss your lines or boofs. definitely no rolling and no swimming allowed.
after about one kilometer the run becomes roadside. before that exiting is a brutal and long bushwack climb.
definitely scout every chance you get. eddies are few and small. probably sholdnt go with more than 3 people. 4 at the utmost.
run might be great if you do it several times within one season and know the lines and that it is free. without a guide its a mission.

Die Befahrung des Pfynwaldes ist wieder mit Bewilligung gestattet. Eine Jahresbewilligung durch das Amt kostet SFR 380.- / Geführte oder begleitete Fahrten mit Kajak Packraft Kanadier wird durch Swiss Packraft oder Kanuschule Schweiz angeboten.ACHTUNG Ranger kontrollieren die Ein- und Ausbootstellen jederzeit.

Due to a landslide at the mouth of the Findelbach glacier a lake at the moment starts to grow. The city of Zermatt declared an emergency for all trails nearby. If the dam brakes, a flood wave will take his way down to Zermatt into the Vispa. - at the 1. june 2026 an other flood wave from the Gorner Glacier went into the vispa, riced up the level of 1 meter with trees. The flood was starting in Zermatt at 1400 and reached Mattsand around 1630. They did open the lake there and the flood went further down. Due to the high temperature, flood waves in the afternoon are common at the moment. Swiss Packraft.

Bergsturz von links nach der ersten 4er Stelle unter der Eisenbahnbrücke. Besichtigen und umtragen links. Doppelstufe mit ca. 4 m Höhe. Achtung sehr scharfkatiges Gestein

Ca. mittig in der Strecke befindet sich ein ca 10 m Wasserfall mit Schlitz (ich würde diesen nie befahren). Anpassen des WW auf IV (V+)?

I did not paddle this section for some years, so the rapid on the foto has changed completly compared to my memory. Its the second crux rapid after the weir, seems like a rockfall that builds up a dam. If the situation is new for you too, take a look from below, much steeper than on the foto, steepest rapid of the hole section.
Otherwise all was free today; with 15 cbm not always clean (sharp rocks) but no dangerous wood so far above the surface.

We‘d suggest to put in at the „new“ powerstation because that‘s where the water comes back into the river…

we ran it on 16.05.2026 at low water.
while there were some new trees, some from the earlier notes are gone and we removed one tree. all in all everything was runnable and all trees were visable in time from the boat, so we didnt need to get out.
take care, go slow, don't run blind corners. there is a lot! of wood in the upper half of the section. most can be avoided completey, two or so trees can be paddled over with a little speed.
at higher flows all trees should become less of an issue.
