Dem Video https://youtu.be/opp0LsuA4PI nach zu schließen, gibt es aktuell (Befahrung vom 1.5.2018 mehrere sehr gefährliche Baumversperrungen auf der Gurk. VORSICHT!

Zermatt - Täsch: Anhand der Lawinenabgänge im Winter liegt zum Teil noch 20 meter Schnee in der Vispa. Eine Befahrung ist im Moment unmöglich

Another attempt explain the water situation.

There is no hydro release into the section. The water on the section is simply the flow over the dam. This happens when the reservoir is full, normally only in spring or autumn. In that case the amount of water flowing over the dam into the section is A-B where:

A is water flowing into the reservoir:
A1) inflow from Albula http://www.hydrodaten.admin.ch/de/2141.html
A2) inflow from Julia http://www.hydrodaten.admin.ch/de/2418.html
A3) max 17 cumecs from Kraftwerk Tiefencastel Ost.
A4) max 10 cumecs from Kraftwerk Tiefencastel West. (both here 46.6644,9.56227)
A5) up to 30 cumecs (apparently) from numerous ungauged smaller streams flowing directly into the reservoir.

B is water diverted out of the reservoir:
B1) max 22 cumecs to Kraftwerk Sills (returned at the section take-out)
B2) max 25 cumecs to Kraftwerk Rothenbrunnen (returned on the Hinterrhein at 46.7741,9.41906)

Unlikely though it may be, the worst case hydro variation in the gorge would seem to be ~75 cumecs if simultaneously the inflow hydro stations turn on and the outflow hydro stations turn off.

I'm not sure what is possible for the access; it seems that you have to walk in or find an authorised vehicle to take you.
~14 m³/s on the gauge ... all comments at this level. Which is melt high.
The section as marked has a very mixed character:
1) the upper 2Km (1.5 above and 0.5 below the gauge) was meandering class II in beautiful scenery.
2) Then the difficulties got progressively difficult, culminating in a 200m difficult passage; this is presumably the main interest at lower flows.
3) 0.8 Km of natural open shallow and rocky section down to the dam portage.
4) 0.5 Km canalized to the take-out.

Befahren am 5.Mai 2018. 3,5 Steine frei.
Freie Fahrt.

200 nach dem Einstieg, grosse Lawinen. Alles gespert mit sehr viel Baumen. Dem Rest ist Baumfrei (bis jetzt) aber achtung!

Schlüsselstelle fahrbar jedoch 50m weiter Baum, Etrachbach wieder mehrere Bäume immer wieder scouten...

Tree crossing the river at the end of the gorge. With 25 cms it was runnable on left side, partially under the water. Can be dangerous with lower flows.

Der Wasserschlauch aus Eintrag #1990 war nicht mehr zu sehen.

Kurz vor Ende der Strecke nimmt das Gefälle noch einmal deutlich zu. Wir haben mehrere Holzstämme über die gesamte Breite feststellen müssen. Das ganze ist gefährlich, da nur wenige kleine Kehrwässer vorhanden sind und die Geschwindigkeit hoch ist.

Bei der Auffahrt mit dem Auto befindet sich nach bewirtschafteten Hütte ein unfahrbares Wehr mit Wasserausleitung. Das Wasser kommt erst in der Nähe des Ausstiegs wieder in den Bach.

Arbeiten sind abgeschlossen

gefahren am 1.5.2018, untere Verzasca-Pegel=29m3, erhöhtes MW im Ribo (da es über Nacht lokale Regenschauer gab). Baum im Wurmkanal ist weg (hatten aber noch etwas mehr Wasser), Baum in der Stelle vor der Strassenbrücke ist noch drin.
