Tara (ME), Kanjon (Splavište - Brštanovica)
Info
We completed this unforgettable descent of the Tara River Canyon during the Packrafting.cat Balkans Tour 2026, our third consecutive year exploring the finest rivers of the Balkans.
If we had to choose a single river as the most spectacular of the entire tour, the Tara would be a very strong contender. Home to what is arguably the most impressive river canyon in Europe, the Tara combines towering limestone walls, pristine turquoise water, untouched wilderness, and continuous whitewater in a setting that feels truly wild.
The final section of the canyon also includes Montenegro's famous commercial rafting stretch, where a succession of fun and powerful rapids adds an extra dose of excitement to an already outstanding river journey. The result is a near-perfect combination of breathtaking scenery and adventure, making the Tara a bucket-list destination for any packrafter or whitewater enthusiast.
From the sheer scale of the canyon to the quality of the rapids, the Tara delivers an experience that is difficult to match anywhere else in Europe.

Una (BA), Kostela - Miostrah
Info
We completed this section on May 19, 2026, during the Packrafting.cat Balkans Tour 2026, our third consecutive year exploring the rivers of the Balkans.
Given the high water levels at the time—close to 100 m³/s—we chose to run this stretch before heading to the classic Strbački Buk section. It turned out to be an excellent decision, as this is a very enjoyable and worthwhile run in its own right.
Although it is often overshadowed by the spectacular Strbački Buk gorge downstream, this section offers beautiful scenery, fun whitewater, and a great taste of the Una River's character. It should not be overlooked by paddlers visiting the area.
