Activity: Water Quality Standards Update

Geographic location: State of Iowa

Brief activity description: Strengthening and updating Iowa Water Quality Standards is one of the priorities of the Iowa Environmental Council. Currently we are working to update use designations, adopt rules for antidegradation, and adopt new nutrient criteria for lakes and rivers.

Projected outcomes/impacts, if known: Development of new uses designations and criteria to protect aquatic life and recreation uses that will serve as goals for water restoration efforts for Iowa rivers and lakes.
