www.healthygulf.org Activity: Clean Water for a Healthy Gulf program Geographic location: We focus on the state of Louisiana and Mississippi, although we work with groups in states throughout the Gulf of Mexico and in the Mississippi River Basin Brief activity description: The GRN's program involves our staff in monitoring state (MS & LA) and federal regulatory activities. We monitor development of state water quality criteria, including nutrient criteria, state listing and delisting of polluted waters, and development of total maximum daily loads. We also conduct workshop to engage affected communities in efforts to influence state and federal agency actions. Primary goals or focus:
Projected outcomes/impacts, if known: Our overall goal is to reduce nutrient pollution entering the Mississippi River, with an eye to obtaining the 30% reduction needed to reduce the Dead Zone in the Gulf of Mexico. Activity type:
